Data-Oriented Declarative Language for Optimizing Business Processes
There is a signifi cant number of declarative languages to describe business
processes. They tend to be used when business processes need to be fl exible and
adaptable, being not possible to use an imperative description. Declarative languages
in business process have been traditionally used to describe the order of
activities, specifi cally the order allowed or prohibited. Unfortunately, none of them
is worried about a declarative description of exchanged data between the activities
and how they can infl uence the model. In this paper, we analyse the data description
capacity of a variety of declarative languages in business processes. Using this
analysis, we have detected the necessity to include data exchanged aspects in the
declarative descriptions. In order to solve the gap, we propose a Data-Oriented
Optimization Declarative LanguagE, called DOODLE, which includes the process
requirements referred to data description, and the possibility to include an optimization
function about the process output data
Green Light Photoelectrocatalysis with Sulfur-Doped Carbon Nitride: Using Triazole-Purpald for Enhanced Benzylamine Oxidation and Oxygen Evolution Reactions
Materials dictate carbon neutral industrial chemical processes. Visible-light photoelectrocatalysts from abundant resources will play a key role in exploiting solar irradiation. Anionic doping via pre-organization of precursors and further co-polymerization creates tuneable semiconductors. Triazole derivative-purpald, an unexplored precursor with sulfur (S) container, combined in different initial ratios with melamine during one solid-state polycondensation with two thermal steps yields hybrid S-doped carbon nitrides (C3N4). The series of S-doped/C3N4-based materials show enhanced optical, electronic, structural, textural, and morphological properties and exhibit higher performance in organic benzylamine photooxidation, oxygen evolution, and similar energy storage (capacitor brief investigation). 50M-50P exhibits the highest photooxidation conversion (84 ± 3%) of benzylamine to imine at 535 nm â green light for 48 h, due to a discrete shoulder (â700) nm, high sulfur content, preservation of crystal size, new intraband energy states, structural defects by layer distortion, and 10â16 nm pores with arbitrary depth. This work innovates by studying the concomitant relationships between: 1) the precursor decomposition while C3N4 is formed, 2) the insertion of S impurities, 3) the S-doped C3N4 property-activity relationships, and 4) combinatorial surface, bulk, structural, optical, and electronic characterization analysis. This work contributes to the development of disordered long-visible-light photocatalysts for solar energy conversion and storage
An introduction to Graph Data Management
A graph database is a database where the data structures for the schema
and/or instances are modeled as a (labeled)(directed) graph or generalizations
of it, and where querying is expressed by graph-oriented operations and type
constructors. In this article we present the basic notions of graph databases,
give an historical overview of its main development, and study the main current
systems that implement them
On Feeding Business Systems with Linked Resources from the Web of Data
Business systems that are fed with data from the Web of Data require transparent interoperability. The Linked Data principles establish that different resources that represent the same real-world entities must be linked for such purpose. Link rules are paramount to transparent interoperability since they produce the links between resources. State-of-the-art link rules are learnt by genetic programming and build on comparing the values of the attributes of the resources. Unfortunately, this approach falls short in cases in which resources have similar values for their attributes, but represent different real-world entities. In this paper, we present a proposal that leverages a genetic programming that learns link rules and an ad-hoc filtering technique that boosts them to decide whether the links that they produce must be selected or not. Our analysis of the literature reveals that our approach is novel and our experimental analysis confirms that it helps improve the F1 score by increasing precision without a significant penalty on recall.Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad TIN2013-40848-RMinisterio de EconomĂa y Competitividad TIN2016- 75394-
Seasonal and Long-Term Changes in Relative Abundance of Bull Sharks from a Tourist Shark Feeding Site in Fiji
Shark tourism has become increasingly popular, but remains controversial because
of major concerns originating from the need of tour operators to use bait or
chum to reliably attract sharks. We used direct underwater sampling to document
changes in bull shark Carcharhinus leucas relative abundance at
the Shark Reef Marine Reserve, a shark feeding site in Fiji, and the
reproductive cycle of the species in Fijian waters. Between 2003 and 2009, the
total number of C. leucas counted on each day ranged from 0 to
40. Whereas the number of C. leucas counted at the feeding site
increased over the years, shark numbers decreased over the course of a calendar
year with fewest animals counted in November. Externally visible reproductive
status information indicates that the species' seasonal departure from the
feeding site may be related to reproductive activity
Insulin modulates cytokine release and selectin expression in the early phase of allergic airway inflammation in diabetic rats
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Clinical and experimental data suggest that the inflammatory response is impaired in diabetics and can be modulated by insulin. The present study was undertaken to investigate the role of insulin on the early phase of allergic airway inflammation.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Diabetic male Wistar rats (alloxan, 42 mg/Kg, i.v., 10 days) and controls were sensitized by s.c. injection of ovalbumin (OA) in aluminium hydroxide 14 days before OA (1 mg/0.4 mL) or saline intratracheal challenge. The following analyses were performed 6 hours thereafter: a) quantification of interleukin (IL)-1ÎČ, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant (CINC)-1 in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay, b) expression of E- and P- selectins on lung vessels by immunohistochemistry, and c) inflammatory cell infiltration into the airways and lung parenchyma. NPH insulin (4 IU, s.c.) was given i.v. 2 hours before antigen challenge.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Diabetic rats exhibited significant reduction in the BALF concentrations of IL-1ÎČ (30%) and TNF-α (45%), and in the lung expression of P-selectin (30%) compared to non-diabetic animals. This was accompanied by reduced number of neutrophils into the airways and around bronchi and blood vessels. There were no differences in the CINC-1 levels in BALF, and E-selectin expression. Treatment of diabetic rats with NPH insulin, 2 hours before antigen challenge, restored the reduced levels of IL-1ÎČ, TNF-α and P-selectin, and neutrophil migration.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Data presented suggest that insulin modulates the production/release of TNF-α and IL-1ÎČ, the expression of P- and E-selectin, and the associated neutrophil migration into the lungs during the early phase of the allergic inflammatory reaction.</p
Dendritic cell-specific delivery of Flt3L by coronavirus vectors secures induction of therapeutic antitumor immunity
Efficacy of antitumor vaccination depends to a large extent on antigen targeting to dendritic cells (DCs). Here, we assessed antitumor immunity induced by attenuated coronavirus vectors which exclusively target DCs in vivo and express either lymphocyte- or DC-activating cytokines in combination with a GFP-tagged model antigen. Tracking of in vivo transduced DCs revealed that vectors encoding for Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) exhibited a higher capacity to induce DC maturation compared to vectors delivering IL-2 or IL-15. Moreover, Flt3L vectors more efficiently induced tumor-specific CD8(+) T cells, expanded the epitope repertoire, and provided both prophylactic and therapeutic tumor immunity. In contrast, IL-2- or IL-15-encoding vectors showed a substantially lower efficacy in CD8(+) T cell priming and failed to protect the host once tumors had been established. Thus, specific in vivo targeting of DCs with coronavirus vectors in conjunction with appropriate conditioning of the microenvironment through Flt3L represents an efficient strategy for the generation of therapeutic antitumor immunity
On providing semantic alignment and unified access to music library metadata
A variety of digital data sourcesâincluding insti- tutional and formal digital libraries, crowd-sourced commu- nity resources, and data feeds provided by media organisa- tions such as the BBCâexpose information of musicological interest, describing works, composers, performers, and wider historical and cultural contexts. Aggregated access across such datasets is desirable as these sources provide comple- mentary information on shared real-world entities. Where datasets do not share identifiers, an alignment process is required, but this process is fraught with ambiguity and difficult to automate, whereas manual alignment may be time-consuming and error-prone. We address this problem through the application of a Linked Data model and frame- work to assist domain experts in this process. Candidate alignment suggestions are generated automatically based on textual and on contextual similarity. The latter is determined according to user-configurable weighted graph traversals. Match decisions confirming or disputing the candidate sug- gestions are obtained in conjunction with user insight and expertise. These decisions are integrated into the knowledge base, enabling further iterative alignment, and simplifying the creation of unified viewing interfaces. Provenance of the musicologistâs judgement is captured and published, support- ing scholarly discourse and counter-proposals. We present our implementation and evaluation of this framework, con- ducting a user study with eight musicologists. We further demonstrate the value of our approach through a case study providing aligned access to catalogue metadata and digitised score images from the British Library and other sources, and broadcast data from the BBC Radio 3 Early Music Show
